AbbVie's Q3 Revenue Rises 10.1% on Skyrizi and Rinvoq Strength
AbbVie’s third-quarter revenue rose 10.1% year-over-year, fueled by continued strong uptake of its immunology drugs Skyrizi and Rinvoq, the company reported in its 10-Q filing. This growth demonstrates the increasing importance of these newer therapies in offsetting declines from established products like Humira, which saw revenues decrease 31% due to biosimilar competition.
The combined strength of Skyrizi and Rinvoq, which grew 23% and 24% respectively, demonstrates AbbVie’s strategic shift towards a diversified immunology portfolio. This is particularly important as Humira’s revenue continues to erode, with the company successfully leveraging continued market share uptake and market growth for its newer blockbusters. Other key products like Vraylar, Ubrelvy, and Qulipta also contributed to revenue growth, increasing 14%, 27%, and 39% respectively.
While revenue increased, AbbVie’s gross margin also improved, reaching 75% of net revenues for the quarter. This increase was primarily driven by higher net revenues coupled with lower fixed costs, particularly a decrease in amortization of intangible assets. It also benefited from the absence of significant intangible asset impairment charges, which impacted the prior-year period. This suggests improved operational efficiency, allowing AbbVie to capitalize on growing sales.
AbbVie’s ongoing investment in research and development remains consistent, accounting for 15% of net revenues for both the three and nine months ended September 30, 2026. The company continues to advance a robust pipeline, with approximately 100 compounds in development, focused on immunology, neuroscience, oncology, and aesthetics. The recent FDA approvals and positive trial data for key assets across these areas demonstrate continued innovation and potential for future growth. The company expects multiple mid-stage programs to transition into late-stage programs in the next 12 months, signaling continued investment and potential for future innovations.
