ASE Technology Expands Capacity with NT$10.4B in Factory Investments

ASE Technology Holding is undertaking a substantial expansion of its production capabilities, as evidenced by a series of factory engineering contracts announced October 5th by its subsidiary, Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL). Collectively, these contracts total NT$10,424,307,450, demonstrating a significant capital deployment aimed at bolstering manufacturing capacity.

The announcements detail seven separate contracts awarded to various engineering and technology firms. The largest single contract, worth NT$4,020,750,000, was awarded to Sheng Hui Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. Other significant contracts were awarded to Zhongyuan Machine & Electric Consultant Co., Ltd. (NT$2,322,107,450), and Mingshi Automation Co., Ltd. (NT$2,026,835,000). The remaining contracts, with Lianchun Technology Co., Ltd., Hanwha Water Treatment Engineering Co., Ltd., Boyang System Technology Co., Ltd. and Kangcheng Technology Engineering Co., Ltd., totaled NT$966,857,500, NT$952,990,000, NT$615,325,000, and NT$516,038,000 respectively. All contracts specify a completion date of September 30, 2028.

The stated purpose of these investments is for “production and operations,” a broad description that offers limited insight into the specific technologies or product lines benefiting from the expansion. The filings do not detail how these investments will impact future revenue, profitability, or market share. All contracts were approved at the General Manager level, and none are considered related-party transactions.

These investments follow a pattern of capacity expansion at ASE Technology and its subsidiaries. Recent filings from September and October 2026 reveal prior investments totaling billions of NTD in equipment purchases from companies like Tokyo Electron, Teradyne, and KLA Corporation. This continued investment suggests a proactive strategy to meet anticipated demand, potentially driven by growth in advanced packaging and testing services for semiconductors, and an evolving semiconductor landscape.

While the scale of these investments is substantial, the filings lack details regarding specific financial projections or expected returns. Investors will likely monitor future disclosures for more granular information on the impact of these capacity expansions on ASE Technology’s financial performance and competitive positioning.
