BASF Makes Non-Binding Offer for Evonik Industries

Evonik Industries confirmed it has received a non-binding approach from BASF SE regarding a potential voluntary public takeover offer for all of its shares. The disclosure, made in response to recent press reports, confirms a possible major consolidation in the German chemical industry.

Currently, no negotiations are taking place between the two companies. Evonik stated it does not intend to comment further on the matter beyond its legal obligations or respond to related inquiries. The approach is non-binding, meaning a formal offer is not yet guaranteed.

Evonik, listed on the Frankfurt Prime Standard and a component of the MDAX index, did not disclose potential financial terms of the offer. The company’s shares trade under ISIN DE000EVNK013 and WKN EVNK01.

Recent industry trends indicate a broader movement toward consolidation and strategic realignment within the chemical sector, with companies focusing on higher-growth, specialized segments. This development could potentially impact the competitive landscape and stock prices within the industry.
