Deutsche Börse Raises Guidance After Strong Q3

Deutsche Börse AG reported a strong third quarter, prompting an upward revision of its full-year guidance, as favorable market conditions and rising interest rates boosted performance. The company now anticipates EBITDA to increase by around 11% to over €3.9 billion, exceeding previous expectations of more than €3.8 billion. This positive revision follows an earlier increase to the Treasury result forecast by approximately €100 million, attributed to both the interest rate environment and increased cash holdings.

Net revenue for the third quarter grew by 13% year-over-year, reaching €1.63 billion. This growth was fueled by both structural trends and a supportive cyclical market environment. Notably, six out of the group’s eight business segments achieved double-digit growth rates, contributing to a 16% increase in operating profit, which reached €978 million. The results surpassed analyst expectations, although some had anticipated more significant increases to operating targets.

This performance is underpinned by increasing inflows into capital market-based investment products, according to the company. Deutsche Börse highlighted a growing structural trend of institutional and private investors allocating more assets to these products, which translates to higher custody assets and transaction volumes in its Fund Services and Securities Services segments. The company’s infrastructure across the financial market value chain positions it to capitalize on this trend.

The positive results have been acknowledged by analysts, with Jefferies maintaining a 'Buy' rating and a €330 price target following the earnings release. The stock price initially rose in after-hours trading, nearing a recent record high, although some profit-taking later led to a slight decrease. Year-to-date, Deutsche Börse shares have increased by approximately 38%, making it one of the top performers in the DAX index.

Deutsche Börse's current trajectory represents a significant improvement from 2025, when its stock performance lagged behind other DAX constituents. Since Stephan Leithner assumed the role of CEO at the beginning of 2025, the company's market capitalization has increased by nearly 40% to approximately €57 billion, making it the most valuable financial institution in Frankfurt, surpassing Deutsche Bank’s current valuation of €54 billion.
