Formosa Petrochemical Q3 Profit Jumps 41% to TWD 67.5 Billion

Formosa Petrochemical Corp. (TWSE: 6505) delivered a substantial 41.3% year-over-year increase in Q3 net income, reaching TWD 67.47 billion, according to filings released November 6th. This profit surge, up from TWD 47.8 billion in the same period last year, was underpinned by strong revenue generation and maintained operating efficiency.

The company’s Q3 revenue reached TWD 588.63 billion, while operating income landed at TWD 79.48 billion. A gross profit of TWD 87.75 billion demonstrates healthy margins, and a net income attributable to parent company shareholders reached TWD 67.47 billion, translating to an EPS of TWD 7.08. These figures highlight not only top-line growth but also the company's ability to translate revenue into substantial profits.

Formosa Petrochemical’s balance sheet as of September 30th reflects a strong financial position, with total assets amounting to TWD 638.19 billion. Total equity stands at TWD 558 billion, signifying a solid capital base and a book value per share of TWD 57.95. The company’s current ratio remains healthy, with current assets at TWD 468.78 billion against current liabilities of TWD 66.07 billion. This financial strength positions the company well within the broader context of a robust Indian market, where the petrochemical sector is experiencing positive momentum alongside growth in automobiles and banking.

The significant profit increase, coupled with a strong balance sheet, suggests Formosa Petrochemical is effectively capitalizing on favorable market conditions. The 41.3% profit jump outpaces the moderate income and profit increases being reported by related entities like NEDFI, indicating that Formosa is benefiting from specific operational efficiencies or market advantages beyond the general positive trend in the region.
