Hapag-Lloyd Raises 2026 EBITDA Forecast by 43%

Hapag-Lloyd AG significantly revised its full-year earnings forecast upward, citing robust market demand and sustained strength in spot freight rates. The company now projects Group EBITDA in a range of USD 3.9 to 4.4 billion, a 43% increase over its previous forecast of USD 2.7 to 3.7 billion. Group EBIT is now expected to reach USD 1.25 to 1.75 billion, compared to a prior expectation of USD 0.1 to 1.1 billion. In Euro terms, EBITDA is forecast at EUR 3.4 to 3.8 billion (previously EUR 2.3 to 3.2 billion), and EBIT at EUR 1.1 to 1.5 billion (previously EUR 0.1 to 1.0 billion).

The revised guidance reflects improved operating performance within a volatile environment. While the company acknowledges ongoing geopolitical challenges and freight rate volatility, the upward revision signals stronger-than-anticipated revenue generation. The substantial increase in both EBITDA and EBIT forecasts suggests improved profitability and operational leverage. The company's 2025 Annual Report provides further context for the performance measures used in this announcement.

The improved outlook arrives amid broader market signals of cautious investment in Indian equities, with fund managers favoring established large-cap names. Hapag-Lloyd's upward revision provides a positive signal for the shipping sector, demonstrating resilience despite macroeconomic headwinds and geopolitical uncertainties.
