Infineon Opens New Thailand Backend Facility

Infineon Technologies has opened a new backend manufacturing facility in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Thailand. The investment strengthens and diversifies Infineon’s global production network, adding capacity for future growth. Currently employing around 350 people, the site is planned to scale to approximately 1,000 employees.

The facility is designed for potential expansion to five modules, positioning Bangkok to become one of Infineon’s largest backend manufacturing locations. The new site complements ongoing expansions of Infineon’s frontend manufacturing capabilities. Infineon emphasizes the location’s strategic position in Southeast Asia and its access to global logistics.

The Thailand facility features a high degree of automation, a scalable design, and a digitized manufacturing infrastructure. It covers the full spectrum of backend manufacturing and wafer testing, supporting applications in automotive, industrial, and energy infrastructure. The site is powered entirely by renewable energy and incorporates water treatment and rainwater harvesting systems. Infineon is collaborating with universities and partners to develop local skilled labor.
