Infineon Partner ESMC Sees New Supplier Facility in Dresden
Infineon Technologies is a partner in the ESMC fab, which will see support from a new supplier facility. Topco Scientific, a supplier to TSMC, will open its first European location in Dresden in November. The facility will serve as a platform for Taiwanese suppliers entering the European market, focusing on the ESMC fab and potentially other customers.
The ESMC fab is a joint project between TSMC, Bosch, Infineon, and NXP. Production of automotive chips is planned to begin in 2027. More than 20 Taiwanese companies have already established operations in Saxony as suppliers to the ESMC.
The German state of Saxony is actively promoting itself as a hub for Taiwanese businesses. Saxonyâs economics minister announced a letter of intent between Chemnitz and Kaohsiung to expand the partnership. The Semicon trade show in Taipei saw record participation from German companies, with 31 firms, cities, and economic development agencies represented.
The broader Semicon event featured over 1,300 companies and 4,300 booths, underscoring Taiwanâs position in the global semiconductor industry. While the filing highlights increasing cooperation, it does not disclose the financial terms of the supplier agreements or the specific volume of chips the ESMC fab will produce.
