Japan Exchange Group Reports 46.7% Revenue Jump

Japan Exchange Group (JPX) reported a substantial 46.7% increase in operating revenue to ¥131.0 billion for the first half of fiscal year 2027, compared to ¥89.3 billion in the same period last year. The growth was primarily fueled by increased trading activity and a significant rise in clearing-related income, as detailed in its Q2 FY2027 earnings report.

Specifically, transaction-related revenue jumped 54.9% to ¥53.9 billion, while clearing-related revenue surged 79.5% to ¥41.4 billion. The company attributes this positive performance to higher trading volumes in both cash equities and derivatives, alongside increased revenue from securities lending and swap clearing services. Operating profit also saw a significant boost, climbing 65.1% to ¥84.7 billion. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent company increased by 65.6% year-over-year, reaching ¥57.2 billion.

In a separate announcement, JPX revealed plans for a 2-for-1 stock split effective April 1, 2027, with March 31, 2027, as the record date. This move is intended to make the company’s shares more accessible to individual investors. Prior to the split, JPX will cancel approximately 9.49 million shares of treasury stock. The company’s total number of issued shares will double from approximately 1.02 billion to 2.04 billion after the split.

The strong results reflect positive momentum in the Japanese equity market, benefiting from increased trading activity. Despite rising operating expenses – including a 20.3% increase in personnel expenses and a 10.6% rise in system maintenance costs – JPX has demonstrated significant profitability growth. The company’s financial position remains robust, with total assets reaching ¥57.98 trillion as of September 30, 2026.
