Kuaishou Tech Invests in Beijing Kling with State-Backed Fund
Kuaishou Technology disclosed on August 31, 2026, further investments in Beijing Kling, a company in which it already holds a stake, with new funding coming from China Artificial Intelligence Industry Investment Fund Partnership (Limited Partnership) – known as China AI Fund – and Charoen Pokphand Robot Limited. This development fully utilizes a previously announced subscription limit for capital increases in Beijing Kling.China AI Fund is injecting RMB1,400.00 million into Beijing Kling, representing approximately 1.14% of the company’s registered capital after the subscription and implementation of subsidiary share participation schemes. Charoen Pokphand Robot is contributing approximately USD19.29 million (equivalent to approximately RMB131.45 million), representing 0.11% of the enlarged registered capital. China AI Fund is notable for its backing: it is owned approximately 99.90% by China Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund Phase III Co., Ltd., whose largest shareholder is the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China. The fund’s general partner, Guozhi Investment Private Equity Fund Management Co., Ltd., holds approximately 0.10% ownership.
The transaction also involves adjustments to contribution amounts from existing investors. Party C will increase its contribution from USD10.00 million to USD15.00 million, while Tianjin Lisi Xingque will increase its contribution from RMB700.00 million to approximately RMB936.96 million. Conversely, several investors – Monolith Kling, HUNDREDS PLUS LIMITED PARTNERSHIP, and PMF Select Polaris LP – are reducing their planned contributions. Kuaishou stated that the applicable ratios relating to the subscription by China AI Fund and the increased contribution from Party C are less than 0.1%, exempting the transactions from certain reporting and approval requirements under the Listing Rules.
The investment fully utilizes the previously announced subscription limit for Beijing Kling. The updated ownership structure, post-subscription and implementation of share participation schemes, reveals a fragmented ownership with Lucky Labs remaining a controlling shareholder. The filing details the specific registered capital, percentage of equity interests, and percentage of voting rights for numerous investors, both before and after the capital increase.
As of August 31, 2026 the filing indicates that the subscription limit has been fully utilized. The ongoing adjustments to investor contributions, alongside the entry of a state-backed fund like China AI Fund, suggest a dynamic capital structure for Beijing Kling, and a potential shift in strategic focus towards artificial intelligence related initiatives. The impact of these changes on Kuaishou’s consolidated financial performance will be revealed in subsequent reporting periods.
