Odakyu Electric Railway Reports Passenger and Retail Revenue Gains

Odakyu Electric Railway released monthly operational data showing increases in both passenger traffic and retail sales during the first half of its fiscal year. Total passenger numbers increased by 1.6% year-over-year, driven by a 2.1% rise in commuter and non-commuter ridership. Specifically, non-commuter passenger volume saw a 2.2% increase.

The company’s department store sales also showed growth, increasing by 3.4% overall. The Shinjuku store experienced the largest gains, with a 6.7% increase in sales. Machida and Fujisawa stores also contributed, reporting increases of 0.8% and 0.5% respectively.

Hotel occupancy rates across Odakyu’s properties also improved. Overall occupancy reached 93.0% for the first half, a 0.8 percentage point increase year-over-year. Hakone Yutowa saw the largest increase in occupancy rates, rising 5.7 percentage points to 85.6%. RETONA HAKONE, which opened in December 2025, does not have comparable year-over-year data.

The data indicates a continued recovery in both transportation and retail operations, although the filing notes that figures may differ from final values reported in the official financial statements. The company adopted new revenue recognition standards starting in fiscal year 2022, and department store sales are reported under previous standards.
