Pfizer Q3 Revenue Flat, Raises Full-Year Guidance

Pfizer announced flat revenue of $16.6 billion for the third quarter of 2026, a change of less than 1% compared to the $16.654 billion reported in the same period last year, but raised its full-year revenue guidance to a range of $58.5 to $61.5 billion. This guidance increase, alongside the appointment of Cecile Guegan as Chief Financial Officer, signals a strategic realignment amidst shifting market dynamics.

The flat quarterly revenue figure masks underlying trends: a 7% operational increase when excluding the impact of declining COVID-19 product sales. Revenue declines from Paxlovid and Comirnaty, down 63% and 29% operationally respectively, were largely offset by strong growth in key products like Eliquis (up 25% operationally) and Padcev (up 55% operationally). This shift highlights Pfizer’s focus on diversifying its revenue streams beyond pandemic-related products. The company attributes Eliquis’ growth to higher net price in the U.S. driven by favorable pricing dynamics and increased demand, while Padcev’s gains stem from increased market share in first-line urothelial cancer treatment.

The company’s raised full-year guidance suggests confidence in its ability to navigate these evolving market conditions. While COVID-19 product revenues have diminished, the strong performance of other drugs, including Vyndaqel, Nurtec, and Lorbrena, is contributing to overall growth. The operational increase in Launched and Acquired Products, up 32%, demonstrates the success of Pfizer’s recent business development efforts. Cost of sales remained relatively stable, decreasing by 3% operationally, while research and development expenses increased by 18%, indicating continued investment in innovation.

Pfizer’s Q3 results demonstrate a transition phase for the company, moving away from reliance on COVID-19 vaccines and treatments towards a more diversified portfolio. The raised guidance reflects the success of this strategy, driven by growth in key pharmaceutical products and a commitment to research and development. The appointment of Cecile Guegan as CFO provides leadership continuity during this period of change, indicating a focus on financial discipline and strategic capital allocation.
