Shionogi Revisions FY2027 Forecast Upward, Expects Higher Profit
Shionogi & Co., Ltd. has revised its financial forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027, increasing both its revenue and operating profit expectations. The upward revision, detailed in a disclosure filed today, reflects a more optimistic outlook for the company’s performance.
Specifically, Shionogi now anticipates full-year revenue of ¥720 billion, up from its previously announced forecast of ¥700 billion. This represents a 2.9% increase. Operating profit is now projected to reach ¥230 billion, a 4.5% improvement over the prior expectation of ¥220 billion. The company also slightly adjusted its forecast for profit before tax to ¥220.5 billion, and net profit attributable to owners of the parent to ¥212.5 billion, increases of 0.2% and 1.2% respectively. Basic earnings per share are now expected to be ¥249.72.
The revision stems from a correction to figures initially released alongside the company’s first-half earnings report, with the company stating the change is a result of a recording error and has no impact on its financial statements. For context, the company reported fiscal year 2026 results of ¥499.677 billion in revenue and ¥170.306 billion in operating profit. The updated FY2027 forecast represents significant growth compared to the prior year, with revenue expected to increase by 44.1% and operating profit by 35.1%.
These revised figures indicate a positive trajectory for Shionogi, reflecting an improved outlook following its recent financial performance. The upward revision in revenue and operating profit suggests continued momentum in the company’s core business areas. The company's continued focus on innovation and expansion, as evidenced by previous acquisitions, such as the recent deal for IntraBio, appears to be positively influencing its financial projections.
