Siemens CEO Calls for Faster EU AI Approvals

Siemens CEO Roland Busch is advocating for a faster pace of approval for new AI technologies within the European Union. Busch argued that the speed of AI development outpaces the legislative process, stating that regulations like the AI Act and Data Act could take two years to pass, during which AI models may evolve significantly.

Busch also cautioned against broad tariffs on China, suggesting that European trade issues aren’t solely due to unfair practices, but also stem from strong Chinese competition. He described Chinese competitors as “very powerful,” with capable engineers rapidly adapting new technologies, including AI.

The company has recently benefited from high demand related to AI data centers, especially in the US, and anticipates this momentum will continue into the next fiscal year and beyond. Busch indicated that the current wave of tech investment isn’t a bubble fueled by borrowed money, but rather driven by companies generating substantial cash flow. He also stated initial positive effects of AI investments are already visible.
