Singapore Airlines Reports 2.8% Passenger Traffic Rise in September
Singapore Airlines Group reported a 2.8% year-over-year increase in passenger traffic for September 2026, signaling continued recovery and demand across its network. The group carried a combined 3.5 million passengers, a 3.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
The group's overall passenger load factor (PLF) stood at 86.8%. Singapore Airlines itself recorded a PLF of 85.7%, a slight decrease from 86.2% in September 2025, attributed to capacity increases outpacing traffic growth in East Asia, Europe, and the South West Pacific. Scoot, the groupās low-cost subsidiary, maintained a higher PLF of 90.8%, up from 90.1% the prior year.
Notably, cargo performance significantly outpaced passenger growth. Cargo loads increased by 9.4% year-over-year, driven by strong demand for hardware used in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors. This growth exceeded the 3.1% increase in cargo capacity, resulting in a 3.4 percentage point improvement in the cargo load factor to 59.6%. The SIA Groupās network, as of September 30, 2026, encompassed 136 passenger destinations and 139 cargo destinations across 35 and 36 countries/territories respectively.
As of September 30, the Singapore Airlines network covered 78 destinations, while Scoot served 84. This expansion of routes is supported by sustained demand, particularly in cargo, where specialized shipments are driving growth. The airlineās ability to capitalize on demand for specialized cargo, like semiconductor components, indicates a strategic positioning within global supply chains.
