Toyota Tsusho's Profit Rises 40.2% to ¥370.5 Billion in Interim Results

Toyota Tsusho Corporation posted a 40.2% year-on-year increase in net profit, reaching ¥370.5 billion for the first half of the 2027 fiscal year, according to a recently released financial report. This growth was supported by a 32.6% rise in total revenue to ¥7.18 trillion. The results reflect a period of strategic restructuring alongside robust financial performance.

Operating performance varied across segments. The Africa segment saw a significant 40.2% increase in profit, reaching ¥649 billion, driven by strong automotive sales and expansion within the healthcare sector. The Digital Solutions segment also contributed substantially, with profits up 118.6% to ¥349 billion, boosted by favorable market conditions in memory-related businesses and automotive electronics. Conversely, the Green Infrastructure segment experienced a 95.3% decline in profit to ¥7 billion, attributed to one-off losses in overseas power generation projects and decreased power generation volumes domestically. The Metals + (Plus) segment also saw a modest 7.3% increase in profit, reaching ¥230 billion.

The company is actively reshaping its business portfolio. On October 29, 2026, Toyota Tsusho announced a planned company split, transferring its food business—excluding certain components—to a wholly-owned subsidiary, Toyota Tsusho Food Corporation (TTFC). This move aims to streamline operations, expand market reach, and drive further business growth. The company’s new organizational structure, implemented in April 2026, focuses on a portfolio approach based on regions and missions, designed to strengthen supply chains and invest in sustainable future solutions.

As of September 30, 2026, Toyota Tsusho's total assets increased to ¥8.63 trillion, and total equity stood at ¥2.81 trillion. The company did not announce any changes to its full-year earnings forecast, but detailed segment-specific performance expectations are available on its website. The company also maintained its previous dividend guidance.

The interim results demonstrate Toyota Tsusho’s ability to capitalize on favorable market conditions in key segments like Africa and Digital Solutions, while navigating challenges in others. The ongoing restructuring efforts, including the consolidation of food businesses and the shift to a mission-based organizational structure, position the company for continued growth and adaptation in a dynamic global landscape.
