Unimicron Invests NT$2.5 Billion in Equipment and Factory Engineering

Unimicron Technology Corp. is moving forward with substantial investments in its manufacturing infrastructure, announcing NT$2.53 billion in purchases of machinery and factory engineering services on October 29th. These investments underscore the company’s commitment to bolstering its production capabilities, though specific applications were not detailed in the filings.

The company disclosed three separate transactions. A NT$1.002 billion investment was made with Zhongqin Industrial Co. Ltd. for unspecified machinery, intended for production use. A further NT$325.75 million was allocated to Jian Yue Technology Engineering Co. Ltd. for factory engineering, also earmarked for production and operations. Finally, Unimicron purchased equipment from NIDEC ADVANCE TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION for NT$1.165 billion, again designated for production purposes. All three transactions were determined via negotiation and based on market pricing, according to the filings.

These purchases build on a series of investments announced in recent months. Prior disclosures indicate Unimicron is actively expanding its capacity, including a NT$50.9 billion investment in long-term equipment and plans to construct a new factory and acquire land in Hsinchu County for advanced packaging – investments flagged in late 2026. The latest investments suggest the company is progressing with these expansion plans, potentially positioning it to capitalize on demand within the broader electronics supply chain.

The company’s recent capital expenditure occurs amid a challenging macroeconomic environment. Geopolitical instability in West Asia is driving up raw material costs and extending shipping times, increasing working capital demands. These headwinds are occurring alongside increased competition for capital as developed nations prioritize manufacturing and AI investments. Unimicron’s ongoing investment, however, suggests confidence in long-term demand for its products.

Unimicron’s latest capital expenditures totaled NT$2.53 billion, representing a significant outlay for production-related assets. The company did not disclose specific revenue projections tied to these investments, but the scale of the expenditures suggests a strategic bet on future growth within its core manufacturing operations.
